Green State Power Provides Installation of DC Charter School Solar Project

Green State Power was selected to provide the installation of the largest solar energy project at a high-performing DC Charter School – Kipp DC.  The 227 kW solar energy system consists of solar carports and rooftop solar panels. Volt Energy was the developer of the project and selected Green State Power to install the solar system.  Sol Systems structured the transaction and financed the project on behalf of its investor client, Washington Gas Energy Systems, which will own and operate the solar energy facility.

“We are excited to be able to work with these great organizations and hope that this project will allow Kipp students to see firsthand the benefits of solar power.”  Said Will Stewart, President of GSP.

GSP provided the engineering, procurement, and construction services (EPC) for this project and will operate and maintain the system to guarantee the school continues to receive solar power for years to come.

The system had its grand opening on November 14th with a ribbon cutting where Dot Harris from the Department of Energy served as the keynote speaker.
